National Register of Historic Places.
It features classic details of the 1840’s with
solid oak woodwork.
A Seth Thomas clock tower is on the library lawn;
it must be hand cranked every 8 days.

Hawes
Country Grain Elevator, Built early 1900, this
skyscraper of the Illinois Prairie stands erect and
relatively unchanged on it’s original site, just a
stones throw from the Atlanta Museum.
Chestnut
Geological
Center, a letter from the Illinois State Geological
Survey, signed by the Chief of National Resources and
the Chief of Environmental Geology and GeoChemistry
notified the city of Chestnut that they are the center
of the state. A monument stands in the village park and common in honor of
this distinction.

College Museum, 300 Keokuk Street, the repository of a
large collection of manuscripts, artifacts and other
memorabilia relating to the life of Abraham Lincoln.
The college also houses the Museum of Presidents,
to honor the Chief Executives from Washington to the

County Courthouse, erected in 1905, the courthouse is
located on the square, which is a historic district.
It houses county offices and records, a statue of
Lincoln, murals plus historical display cases.

reproduction of the first Logan County Courthouse in use
from 1840 to 1847.
Abraham Lincoln served as a lawyer on the Eighth

Pulaski, Mount Pulaski Courthouse State Historic Site
City Square, listed in the National Register of Historic
Places, it served as the county courthouse from 1847 to
1853. One
of two remaining courthouses on the Eighth Judicial
