Cumberland
Road
The National Road Scenic Byway begins in
Cumberland, Maryland traversing 6 states.
It created a conduit for pioneers seeking a new
life in a pristine world.
Today, the traveler can drive the 160 plus miles
of the National Road, which closely follows Rt 40 as it
crosses Illinois. Visit
